DOUBLE EXPOSE
With Baltimore native Jody Davis’s designs, it’s all about the entrance and the exit. Her dresses grab attention with their perfect balance of feminine and flirtatious details, but when the wearer turns, she reveals an open back or second lace pattern. Even her long coat, white with military inspired detailing, will turn heads.
Davis, who attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and then returned to Maryland afterward, has always strived to create designs that are made from beautiful fabrics, but also can be worn in everyday life. With clients like Iyanla Vanzant and Patti LaBelle, Davis focuses on sexy fitted designs that still keep their classic feminine charm.
Take, for example, her white long-sleeved shift dress with the black lace details, or the mock neck dress with white embroidered lace, both of which would be the envy of any event. The white lace embroidered cuffs create a vintage style, yet the hint of skin showing through the sheer bishop sleeves makes the look a little bit sexy. Or, in the case of the black, white, and gray tweed dress, the wearer can look professional and classy while also adding a hint of flirty fun with its draped cowl neck, side ruching, and lace cap sleeves.
I HEART Jody Davis- so wearable and flattering. She makes you feel like a tall glass of water. -Simone B.
