// SECONDS: MARC SAMUEL, TV ACTOR
Marc Samuel, daytime television actor on ABC’s General Hospital, sat down with // Magazine’s Creator, Henry Edwards II to discuss upcoming projects and his current role as Felix Dubois on General Hospital.
// Magazine: What makes you exclusive?
Samuel: The unique combination of characteristics and experiences combined with the way I was taught, loved, educated. But everyone is exclusive that way, so…
// Magazine: Do you feel your role as Felix on General Hospital is advocating a political movement towards diversity and civil rights? Explain.
Samuel: I feel that the role of Felix does suggest a change in the political movement towards civil rights. His visibility in the world of Port Charles is something that wouldn’t have been seen without the hard work of countless people fighting for those rights. When you have a major network and corporation saying yes, we want to show this character, you know things have changed in a positive way.
// Magazine: Often viewers associate performers with the character being portrayed. Outside of GH, who is Marc Samuel?
Samuel: I’m a lot of things, like most people, so I’ll just keep it simple for the purposes of the interview. I am a student of life and experience. I am a person who is loyal, who enjoys a good sense of humor, a traveler, an athlete, and a huge fan of eating.
Samuel: I can’t really give a percentage, but when we as actors, create a role, we use parts of our experiences and observations in life to help add life to it. Felix is a combination of my work as an actor, friends I know, plus the writer’s work too. I guess the physical look of Felix is me, some of the personality instilled by me in the process of acting homework too.
// Magazine: Any future projects?
Samuel: Have a horror film coming out called Savaged, directed by Michael Ojeda. It just got accepted into 2 huge horror film festivals, one in Spain, and the other in Korea. Hot Guys With Guns is another film I did, directed by Doug Spearman which has been making stops in film festivals all over the country and world. It will be released by Wolfe Distribution early next year.
Marc is just amazing. How he has the time for all the awesome scripts, I’ll never know! I don’t get to see General Hospital as often as I’d like, but I did see him dance for the 50 year anniversary, and saw Carly slap him a couple weeks ago. I had the pleasure of seeing Hot Guys with Guns twice during the festival run it is currently doing. The cast and crew welcome their crazy fans with open arms. But I am kind of a SUPERfan. I just need a cape. I can’t wait to be scared to death when I can see Marc’s newest movie, Savaged.
All my best to you, Marc. 🙂
