Face Forward
With all the political handshakes and campaigning smiles, one way to secure votes this general election is by putting your best face forward. Having a flawless and radiant complexion is worth more than a thousand words—or say a campaign speech.
The primary step in caring for your skin is to know your skin type. Whereas normal skin has no oil or flaking and boasts small pores, dry skin is characterized as flaky and tight.
Combination skin is oily in the center of the face, but ranges from normal to dry in the cheek areas; however, oily skin is shiny and acne prone.
Once you have identified your skin type, follow a daily regimen of cleansing, exfoliating, toning, and moisturizing to always be photo opt ready:
- Cleanse: Select a cleanser that works for your skin type. Using your selected product, cleanse your face in a circular motion and rinse with lukewarm water, as hot water robs your skin of moisture.
- Exfoliate: Using a granular product or enzyme mask is effective in smoothing rough areas and removing dead skin cells, thus brightening your skin. Exfoliate face, neck, and décolleté in a circular motion.
- Tone: Use a toner or an astringent to tighten skin, remove any makeup or cleanser residue and to restore the skin’s PH balance.
- Moisturize: Pat skin dry with a soft towel, but do not rub. The skin should be slightly damp. In a circular upward motion, apply a moisturizer with sunscreen. This will aid in protecting the skin from dryness and the sun. Thus, keeping your skin youthful looking and hydrated.
Now you are ready to put your best face forward!
